SCHOOL ON THE MOVE

Begins Sunday, March 5 and ends Saturday, April 1, 2017

The goal of ON THE MOVE for Students is to encourage K- grade 6 students to do 60 minutes of physical activity on at least 5 days of the week, and ideally on all 7 days of the week.

Why? To improve their health, so they are better able to learn, and to help students understand that physical activity can be fun. Parents are encouraged to set their own physical activity goal and do physical activity with their children in the evenings or on week ends.

School ON THE MOVE is sponsored by:

  • Barnes ON THE MOVE Partnership
  • City County Health District
  • North Dakota Department of Health
  • Pizza Corner in Valley City

It is for elementary students in Litchville-Marion, Barnes County North, Maple Valley (Oriska and Buffalo), St. Catherine Catholic School, and Valley City Public Schools.

Students in grades K- grade 6 must keep a record of the physical activity that they do on a student activity log during the 4 weeks in March.

A one day swim pass to the Valley City Parks and Recreation Community Swimming Pool will be given to all students who meet the goal. A physical activity celebration, a swimming day at the Gaukler Wellness Center pool will be held at the end of the program for all students, the PE and classroom teachers and the Elementary Principal.
